GHIG, under its Global Health Continuing Professional Development (GHCPD) program, is proud to launch its first educational and qualification program focused on strengthening diagnostics and laboratory medicine to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The overall objectives for GHCPD include the following:
- To provide an educational platform with the most recent information on emerging and immediate disease outbreaks
- To advance global health and laboratory medicine by building on skilled human resource capacity in order to address rapidly changing disease control and prevention needs
- To promote professional development and career progression in global health and laboratory medicine
The Need
COVID-19 offers an unique opportunity for frontline healthcare workers and laboratory professionals to be part of the response to slow the spread of this unprecedented pandemic. The outbreak presents enormous challenges but also great opportunities – opportunities to acquire new knowledge from global experts, become skilled in new areas, and understand how a fast-moving outbreak emerges and evolves as it spreads around the world and how to respond.
The Program
The GHCPD program is a free online resource center that provides quality curated educational courses and activities. CPD rewards those who take the time and effort to enroll in self-learning courses or participate in many of the available COVID-19 trainings to embark on a qualification process towards professional designation. The credits earned throughout a laboratory workers career can earn them special designation in laboratory medicine. The content will be constantly updated and evaluated to make sure it adds value to your career advancement and improves the quality of global and public health and laboratory medicine in your country.
